DEVONNE
Technical. Emotional. Powerful.
Devonne's purpose for business, performance, and production is anchored by her undying love + support of Haiti, Black Women, the African Diaspora and humanity. In memory of her matriarchs, DEVONNE takes the stage as Sophia's Daughter to honor her late mother Maggie Sophia Exil. It is a declaration that all of the beauty and love Devonne ignites among her audiences is entirely the result of her mother's love and her grandmother's grace.
POETRY
Devonne has been professionally competing and performing across the eastern US since 2015. Having spent most of her academic career studying music and theatre, Devonne began her spoken word career as a competitor and champion of the Louder Than A Bomb Florida High School competition. Through college, Devonne continued to place first among top competitors in local Spoken Word poetry competitions.
In 2019, she was awarded “Best Poet” by The Loud Project NJ. She now offers the service to write original works for collaborative projects centering any specific experience. Commemorative events and celebrations for which she has created original work includes honoring the Heroes of the Harbour in NYC at the One World Observatory, and honoring champion youth scholars of color for the PGIM Real-Estate’s Inaugural Ron Andrews Scholarship.
MUSIC CREATIVE PRODUCTION
Developing a deeper interest in curation and production as a means to amplify her impact, Devonne now produces performances and live experiences through her company Divine Sound. Her vocal training is based in Jazz and Classical technique, accented by her love for Musical Theatre.
In 2023, as a quarter-century birthday gift to herself, Divine Sound produced her first live tour Divine25.
